Managing Partner

Originally from Long Island, New York, Michael Grinnon graduated from the University of Maryland in 2005.  While at UMD, Michael played four years on the men’s basketball team, and was named captain his senior year.  Michael holds the distinct title of the only men’s player in UMD history to have won a National Championship and ACC Championship.

Professionally, Michael joined New York Life in November of 2007. In his first four years with the company, Michael achieved 4 Million Dollar Round Table* qualifications (2008 - 2011)  and 3 New York Life President Council^ qualifications. (2009-2011)

Michael joined the management team of Northern Virginia in 2011 and was promoted to Senior Partner in 2014.   During his time as Senior Partner, he helped open a satellite office in Washington D.C. for the Northern Virginia General Office.

In January of 2016, Michael and his wife Cynthia relocated to Dallas, Texas. There, Michael worked as a Corporate Vice President for New York Life. His focus was  leadership development for 30 offices in the West Central Zone of New York Life. In February 2018, Michael was promoted to the Managing Partner of the St. Louis General Office.   

Michael is actively involved in numerous community and professional organizations.  To name a few, he has served on multiple boards at the University of Maryland, serves on the host committee for Camp Fantastic and Special Love events, and is involved in NAIFA. 

Michael is married to his lovely wife Cynthia. They met in college at the University of Maryland. They have a 2-year old daughter, Mikayla Josephine, whom they hope will follow in their “Terps” footsteps one day.  Michael is active in his church community and enjoys playing, coaching, and watching all types of sports. Michael’s brother Tom Grinnon also works at New York Life as a consultant based in L.A. on the worksite marketing team.
